Zaparkoval jsem si auto na prázdninovém kempu a bylo to velmi dlouhá procházka až tam (~ 12km od kempu, myslím asi 6-8km od „města“ do písku „hory“). Hora je na „severní“ straně. Byl jsem na velké „horě“ a nedoporučuji tam sklouznout. Je to velmi „vysokoúhlé“, je to velmi nebezpečné, to bych neudělal a nikdy bych to nedovolil svým dětem!!! Cesta až tam byla šíleně skvělá a výhled z vrcholu byl naprosto úžasný, musíte to vidět (ale buďte opatrní, je to dlouhá chůze a nebezpečné tam jít nahoru!) (ale to bych udělal znovu :-) )

Zaparkoval jsem si auto na ulici a běžel odtud. Setkal jsem se s pěkným mužem ve vesnici, který nám dal bodyboardy. Písečná duna je velmi strmá, byla to skvělá zábava!

Sledovali jsme mapu Google a vyrazili na cestu. V určitém okamžiku se silnice stává soukromým majetkem, což vyžaduje souhlas k pokračování. Zeptali jsme se majitele, který byl pěkný a dokonce nám dal kus kaučuku z rezervy! Zaparkovali jsme auto (jako nemůžete řídit na silnici dolů do písečných dun), a místo toho šli. Dlouhá procházka v zlověstném terénu, ale zcela stojí za to, udělali jsme to jen pro zlatý západ slunce, naprosto krásný výhled a nikdo kolem na míle.

We rented our boggey boards. You have to get to the end of the road on the 90 mile beach by Ahipara and park your car on the beach (unless you have a 4x4). From there it is a beautiful walk of 45 minutes only accessible from 1-2h after high tide. There is a huge dune and a small one. The view from the top of the big dune is super impressive: sea and desert. Our experience was less interesting because there were a lot of motorbikes playing in the dune making the slide more dangerous.

Don’t follow google maps! It brings you to a private property.

Access by road requires consent as it is a separate state. Nobody was there so we did not take the risk. Maybe its better to go by the beach.

A really great spot we had an amazing day there. You walk on low high tide along the beach to access the dunes. About 45 min. After that climb the steep dunes for 15 minutes. It is a great view and then slide down. Really fun! we rent the boards at the only hostel we saw. It is opposite of the public toilets. Park your car there they have cameras so it's safer. If you have a 4wd car you can drive the way along the beach like all the local fisher men. The rental was 10 dollars for 2 boards for the whole day. No private property it's a beach access.
