Arrived at 6pm and already full! Looked fine but it was dark so didn’t fully assess facilities, we stayed at the nearby Catlins Inn Campground for $15pp, which gave us access to a flush toilet and shower.
Good place to stay for one night: only 8-10 beds, which fill up quite quickly. Public toilet a few minutes' walk away.
The campground is cozy, located behind the Cathedral Inn. We had a flat tire and received wonderful help there! Super friendly people! A ranger checks the campground for toilets every evening. Very nice and friendly. Public toilets are located across the road by the playground.
Yeah it is just a carpark, nothing fancy or beautiful but to stay for a night definitely enough. There is two public toilets available (2 min by foot next to the playground), a huge rubbish bin, dumping station and fresh water. Two cafes and a four scare also right next to it. But be aware: there are officers around checking for your freedom camping label. First time ever in NZ that some odd actually checked for that.
Filled up completely around 6:30pm. Someone stopped by around 7pm to check our vehicles to make sure we’re self contained. Flush toilets in a playground 3 minutes walk from here. Hot showers available next door for 5$ - we didn’t try it. You can fill up your water here. Just a parking spot, but a nice one next to a private field!
The parking spot is ok. All you need is there but nothing more. No wifi. The pub is a place that sells beer and some food. Nothing more. The showers/toilets for $5 are from the last century with hardly any warm water. A big disappointment.
Great spot! Very quiet, 8 sites available, drinking water and dump station. Public restrooms are a 3-minute walk from the sites, opposite the children's playground. Hot showers are available for $5 at the adjacent complex (Carlins Inn).
The quietest place we ever used since we travel, a real real good night and only 3 vehicles, including us, were parked (Only 8 spaces available) If you need real toilets, 3min walk in front of the fuel station, on the kids playground. But if the free park is full, the catlins inn is next to it, it was closed on Wednesday but I’m pretty sure that you can call or knock to rent (10$pp) and park on their spaces (with means shower for $5 and toilets free)
It's okay for one night, but we left around 4 pm because there's nothing there (no official toilets, no drinking water, and nothing else interesting in the village). If you have the time, it's better to drive 1 hour and 20 minutes further to Dunedin.
