The campsite is very large and winding; we even got lost briefly on the way out. There's plenty of space and privacy, but the paths are occasionally very bumpy and vary between paved and gravel roads.
Vores foretrukne gratis lejr endnu. Så meget plads. Masser af vilde køer. Meget fredelig.
Amazing to camp in this historically significant former mining town. Plenty of flat sites, concrete pads and private spots by the dry creek bed. Very peaceful, and a great opportunity to learn about the Mary Kathleen uranium mine and the town that existed here to service it. Camp fires ok. Best to bring your firewood with you, and make sure you take your rubbish.
You can get Uranium mine site from here. 5km sealed road but so many holes so watch to drive then 2km gravel road and this road worst road so far. We were van and too risky to get there. Was really nice place but I can’t reckon for 2WD.
This free camp site also called Mary Kathleen Ghost Town. The entrance from the main road does look like abandoned entrance of farm gate sort of as what you can see from the main road just a dirt field. However the actual abandoned township is 600m inland follow the track that has potholes here and there before you see the base/slab of concretes everywhere (as used to be a building on it in the past), where you can pick any of it for park the vehicle and camp. It's better to come before dark due to the track condition. Site also has a signal for Telstra.
Beautiful place, very good and spacious campsite. Exploring the old mine was fun with plenty of 4x4 tracks. We woke up next to cows and camels! We would recommend it
Great place to explore! We didn’t stay overnight, just passed by for the book, but can’t find it. Many people chilling out there, but seems everyone has its territory, not really friendly.
Beautiful campsite with plenty of room.Well off the main road. Stunning scenery with all the trees and creek beds.We had cows walking around which adds to the atmosphere.
