Embandond. Rlly terrible campsite, looks like it hasn’t seen any matenence in years. The grass is so overgrown there wouldn’t be anywhere to camp anyways. Really desmil and sad. I moved on and decided to find somewhere else as this place was rlly poor and sketchy.. :(

The outhouse is located in the middle of the woods, about 200 meters from the campsite, and you have to cross a small river to get there (the path is paved, but the water still flows across). We had very few sandflies. Locals were also there, playing music and making a fire (it was a Friday, so that was probably the reason). Overall, it was perfectly fine for one night. Hiking was also possible from there. The downside: no cell service.

We arrived late a night and were completely alone! Nice campsite! Lots of sandflies - we didn't spend much time outside..

Be careful, the barrier was closed with a padlock and it was indicated closed for the winter, so we had to go much further to Okaihau.

Wanted to stay there for the night. Apart from the fact that you have to walk around 200m to the toilets on that path are a lot of holes filled with water and also a river with a concrete path, but 10cm under water…

The restrooms are on the other side of the river; you can't drive over them, and in heavy rain, you can't walk over them either. The campground was pretty wet and muddy; you couldn't drive on it. We parked in the roundabout at the entrance, where there was gravel and rocks. No cell reception.

Fredelig, fantastisk til en stille nat stop over - stjernerne var utrolige, da det føles som om du er i midten af en jungle. Men vær advaret, hvis det har regnet i de sidste par dage (eller måske bare i efteråret / vinter) du ikke kan krydse floden til toiletterne. Du kan stadig parkere på græsplænen nær indgangen, der var masser af ledige pladser. Var også en super venlig lokal, der stoppede for en morgen chat.

Så mange myg i efteråret, vi forlod.

Fantastisk landskab. Der er et tegn, der siger, at faciliteterne er lukket (du kan stadig komme til toilettet til fods, men du skal krydse en flod, er lidt glidende, men det er ok).

Smukt skovfyldt sted med tonsvis af plads. Anklene blev spist levende af bugs, anbefaler sokker / støvler. Kør IKKE din bil over floden til toilettet, da der er et massivt, uundgåeligt pothole på den anden side. Du bliver nødt til at gå over betonpladen, gennem vandet (ca. 6" dybt i det højeste). Nogle trafikstøj, men ikke dårligt.
