“Wow, thats incredible come for one night stayed 3 we must be doing something right. The river and the Forest as a backdrop really create something special here. The owner is lovely and helpful and very knowledgable about the area doing all the hikes close by. Thank you for mentioning the wifi, we have improved this service alot and appreciate the feedback. Thank you for mentioning the fabulous showers.”

Easy to find site, welcoming staff. 7m Campervan was just about small enough to fit on the gravel area still available to book. Lots of live in residents on the site.

“Thank you for mentioning how easy to find site and how welcomed you felt. Glad your camper fitted well, we were glad to include you. Thank you for visiting our corner of NZ.”

Very nice campsite and the owners are the most friendly persons. Recommended!

“How gracious of you to say, thank you so much. We keep working hard to maintain this very old campsite to ensure it looks loved. Thank you for mentioning all the friendliness. Thank you for recommendation:)”

Staff is very friendly and camp site overall has good facilities. We had good WiFi connection (free & unlimited) and used the kitchen. Camp site is a little bit aged but the price is def fair. We paid 40$ for 2p plus van. There is also a free mini golf course available and you can swim in the river.

“Thank you very much for your review. I will pass onto staff the mention to keep up the friendly but I believe that comes naturally. Thank you for mentioning the wifi and kitchen. We do have a aged campground it was built in 1869. You can definately say it is old for sure. Hope you enjoyed the mini golf and river.”

Our campsite was right by the river. That was really nice, because we could also use it for swimming. Unfortunately, we had permanent campers on either side of us, one of whom smoked one joint after another in the afternoon, and the other who watched loud TV all day. That dampened our overall impression. Otherwise, it's a nice campground. Showers cost $1 for 5 minutes, and Wi-Fi is available. Personally, I had no signal anywhere on the grounds.

“So glad you enjoyed the River. It is a beautiful swimming hole. We did speak with those people after reading this because that is not an impression we ever wish to give anyone, very sorry. We are happy to help anyone get on the wifi when visiting.”

Lovely site, we had two nights here. There is a mix here; dorms, cabins are available to rent, there are some long term guests plus, campers and caravans. Bathroom are old but very clean. Laundry facilities, great kitchen, BBQs and shared games/Tv lounge. We had a dip in the pool, great for a decent swim. We backed into a stream which was quite a delight as the ducks would pay us a visit. Great place for bird spotting too! We did the hike signposted off site, great but be prepared for a v steep

“Lovely to hear we had some adventure seekers, well done you. Glad you enjoyed your two nights of river gazing. We do have a variety, very glad of this. So glad you found all the facilities to your liking. Absolutely great spot for bird watching with all our trees and bush on our doorstep. Yes that track is a challenge, very impressed you gave it a shot.”

The campsite was pleasant. The kitchen was good. The toilets and showers were clean. The Wi-Fi was also fine. It would be nice if the paths were a little better lit at night. Hot showers cost an extra 1 NZD despite paying 30 NZD per person. The lady at reception was very courteous and friendly.

“Thank you for mentioning the pleasantness, the good kitchen and the clean standards and wifi. I will mention the lighting. We do the showers as we are not gated at night and open to all. It keeps water usage down. Thank you for mentioning the receptionist, I will pass this on she is lovely person.”

Friendly staff. Old facilities but ok. Lot of long term campers. Quite small sites.

“Thank you for mentioning Friendly staff.”

Definitely recommend. The new owners are really nice and taking care about the place, investing quite a bit like a nice new shelter at the kitchen. Also gave a lot of tips around Coromandel. Everything clean and nice. Would come back. Free WiFi.

“Yes definately good free wifi and we help those that cannot get on plus have a 0800 number. Yes the new shelter is amazing, thank you for noticing. The new owners are taking care of the place it definately shows, thank you for mentioning.”

Warm welcome by the owner who gave us helpful tips for hiking in and around Rotorua. We had a perfectly fine stay: clean facilities and warm shower ($1 dollar per 5 min).

“Thanks for mentioning the Owner, she is a delightful lady with great knowledge of travelling New Zealand. Glad you enjoyed the facilities.”
