Great: seeing a kiwi couple up close and also hearing them communicate with each other. But what was also due to the rather sporadically furnished enclosure without thick bushes or something to hide. So also a minus point. Flop: all enclosures, aquariums, terrariums were incredibly tiny. Almost bordering on torture. Also that you lure the crays with a fish hook with meat to be able to catch them and then throw them back into the water. WHY. Unnecessary stress for the animals. The condition of the entire interior was more than in need of renovation.

Quirky wee place. Saw two kiwis, the best view I have ever had of kiwis, but that was probably because their habitat was sparse in comparison to other kiwi encounters, so less place for them to hide, plus it wasn’t as dark as other experiences either. Hubby also suspects feeding happens along the glass front to increase visibility. So while they kiwi view was great for us, I felt for the kiwis. Rest of the exhibits were somewhat quirky. You can also catch and release freshwater crayfish.

Super interesting! A must to observe kiwis, fish and amphibians. The staff are lovely. I recommend in rainy weather (or not).

This is a 'must see' if you visit this area. An excellent place with really good views of Kiwi in well designed enclosures. Highly recommended.

I had a great experience at the Kiwi centre and it's really worth the money. Watch the doco next to the eel tank - very educational and funny. Maybe the salmon tank needs more explanation, but everything else was well displayed. I got to feed and pet the eels. The kiwis were very cute, I had no idea they move in such funny way ? Altogether, a great experience on a rainy Sunday!

Pretty small but yes we got to see a kiwi. Was a bit upset that we had to pay entrance for our 6 months baby who slept in a carrier our whole visit (I mean ok to pay for kids who actually visit the center, but come on, 6 months old! 24pp plus 14 for our 6 month à bit a lot to see this small animal center....

This is the worst animal house I‘ve ever been in and I‘m 54 years old! Don‘t go there, it‘s not worth the money. 22 $ for Seniors and Students, 26 $ without discount. The woman at the Ticket Counter gave us the discount tickets. We saw the eel feeding. The eels were not interested in the food and only one was moving a bit. There are only 2!!! Kiwis. One was hidden in a hole and one ran around in always the same loop! That‘s all you can see there. Ah, forgot some plastic crabs. We are very upset for what we saw in „The National Kiwi Center“

Really enjoyed our visit. Price is fair for what you get, compared to going to a zoo or aquarium. Go doing feeding time for eels and kiwis, staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

The center looks a bit unprofessional. After all, we saw 2 kiwis. Feeding showed little interest. Nice personel. Somewhat expensive at $ 24 per person. The lady at the front desk gave us but student price.

This place is amazing, highly recommend if you are in town. The staff were knowledgeable and very friendly.
