Great stop with camping allowed. Life is wonderful, but be warned, you need to be 100% self-sufficient as there are no toilets. Lots of flies!!
Technically, it's on the Mereenie loop track and you're not allowed to camp anywhere here, but when you get to the rest area a sign says "24 hours camping allowed"... The road at the moment is corrugated and gravelly but not extremely bad. We did it in about 2h30 from start to end, never engaging 4wd.
Really beautiful spot. Stunning views and sunset. Lots of room with rock firepits everywhere. There are NO TOILETS or water but there’s rubbish bins and tables/shelter. There’s no phone signal and we saw a few dingoes around but not near our camp. The road to get to the free camp is super rough and corregated. We did it in our 2wd van and we thought we were going to pop a tyre 😅 but we make it there and back safely only now we found a crack in our radiator that we think happened then!
Great free camp! Heaps of room and beautiful views. Woke up to a couple of dingoes roaming around our camp, so don’t leave any food out.
Loistava leirintäalue! On monia paikkoja, joilla on upeat näkymät ja useita alueita, jotka on piilotettu pensaisiin, jotta vältetään tuulen altistuminen. Ei mukavuuksia muutamien piknik-pöytien ja roskapussin lisäksi. Seuraa solujen palvelua.
Beautiful shady spot. At some places very rocky. We made it there in AWD and ford falcon, both ok, gravel has some corrugations, but 2WD can surely make it. The top section up to the hill is sealed again.
Dirt, Gravel, Corrugated road to get to this place. Beautiful view, so quiet at night. Could hear the dingoes in the distance at night howling. Fires allowed, no toilet facilities
The 13km unseal road to the campground its just to bumpy for a 2wd. We had a rented camper that made it, but if i owned the van I wouldn’t even think about it. Dunno how the road could be with rain.
Amazing camping!! Not just 4wd. There's a 2nd entrance suitable for 2wd that brings you down where you can have a beautiful view of the Canyon.
