Loved it. Beautiful. Nice walk. Great place to have a swim and some lunch. Different from Hokitika IMO- enjoyed both!
Beautiful gorge, just because of the many rains and landslides no turquoise water straight.
Unfortunately i have lost my drone (white DJI Spark) during flying around bridges, please if anyone found it contact me through stanislavkachyna@gmail. Com, i offer reward for microSD card with my data in drone, thanks a lot!
Beautiful spot. Worth the stop.
Was amazing! Definitely worth going out there, beautiful blue water and snow on the mountains!
Not worth it, especially after you have seen the Hokitika Gorge! Maybe more impressive after heaps of rain or in winter?
Stunning! Just had pull over, great to explore and very quiet for this time of year, had the place to ourselves. Ended up staying at the campsite which was very convenient and cheap ($20) for a couple with a 3 year old
It is certainly better to have planned shoes that do not fear to be dirty to go hiking! If it has rained the days before the path is sometimes muddy and you have to walk in the streams that flow on the walking path. The beginning of the walk for the belvedere is very steep, if it is hot to foresee water and what to protect from the sun After the belvedere passage sometimes very muddy, that we can avoid by making a hook by the way which goes to the right (which adds a small 10 min) At the 2nd stop it is only possible to see the openings of the old mines digging in the mountain. Not interesting for everyone but the vegetation is beautiful and possibility to see beautiful areas of birds!
Nice walk up to the Lower Gorge Lookout (approximately 30 minutes to get up there). However, the second part of the walk up to the caves definitely takes more than 15 minutes; probably 30-40 minutes. In our opinion it is not worth it to continue the track after the first lookout, as it's just 3 small caves with fences in front of them. Moreover the track to the caves was very wet and muddy, even on a warm and very sunny day (if you decide to walk up to the caves, hiking shoes are recommended!)
Beautiful water and scenery, swimming was cold but lovely and refreshing after a hot walk!!
