Oikea leirintäalue itsessään on ihana, mutta valitettavasti meillä oli erittäin pelottava kokemus oleskelumme aikana. Noin kello 10.30 kello kiviä heitettiin vantimme, herättää meidät. Noin 10 minuuttia myöhemmin pelottava auto saapui ja ympäröi vantimme ennen pysäköintiä lähellä ja sammutti valot. Asukkaat lähtivät sitten tulitikulla ja alkoivat kävellä kohti vantia. Olimme äärimmäisen peloissaan, joten soitin poliisille. Lopulta tunsimme niin epämukavaksi ja epävarmaksi, että päätimme lähteä.

Ihana leirintäalue. Vapaa. tilaa runsaasti. Drop wc oli melko puhdas. Aamu järven rannalla on ihana. Ainoa asia, jonka sanon, on ehkä pysäköidä liian lähellä ensimmäistä aluetta piknik-pankin kanssa veden äärellä, meitä herätti joukko turisteja (näyttää jonkinlaiselta valokuvausmatkalta) ottamalla kuvia suoraan meidän boot 😂 auringonnousua varten.

Long gravel path and steep decent to campsite. Smelly long drops, beautiful surroundings

DOC spacious with many locations on the edge of a lake. To access it by gravel road on 2/3 km but it is done without problems. Only weak point, there are 2 toilets which is widely enough but it could really a lot, he should come clean them (it becomes urgent 😅)

Best site we have done. no shower but large enough, quiet and beautiful.

Around 10:40 pm last night someone vandalized multiple tents including ours.

Didn’t feel safe. At midnight someone is coming and stealing your belongings. Be very careful and aware, catch those bustards

Spacious, peaceful campsite with plenty of room for turning large vehicles. Nestled beside a pretty lake with a canal right behind it. Stunning views across to Aoraki/Mt Cook. Stay on the gravel canal road until you've passed most of the campsite before turning into it. Lake Wardell on the other side of SH8 looked lovely too but is closer to the road.
