HUGE camping area with smooth level grass. Can get boggy after heavy rain, but there is firm ground before the grassy area. We spent 2 lots of 3 nights here, and at the most there were 10 others staying. Don't forget to book online before you arrive, there is no phone signal.

Suljettu talveksi! Vedetty eilen, varattu, ei mitään verkkosivuilla, sen jälkeen, kun se pieni silta ja portit kääntää lukittu! Soitettu DOC, kun liitetty Starlink koska ei ole puhelinsignaalia täällä, he olivat tehneet virheen, joka mahdollistaa varaukset, se on virallisesti suljettu talvella, (suositteli NZMCA). Silta! Oy vey! Olemme 14 metriä yhteensä, hitched ylös ja se vei minut kolme yritystä haha! Se on kuitenkin mahdollista, kun se on avoinna!! Se on erittäin mukava. Mutta hieman hämmentävä. Doc-sivustolla kaikki on kunnossa. Leirintäalueen edessä on merkki, joka sanoo, että se on suljettu varkauden vuoksi. Mutta toisin kuin että kaikki muu näyttää olevan kunnossa. Ei ole lainkaan signaalia. Varasimme ennen kuin saavuimme sinne. Se on kaikki ruohoa, joten raskaalla juoksulla renkaat eivät tule olemaan hyvää tartuntaa.

One of the best camping places, I have had so far because it was so quiet and in the middle of nature. But there is no Internet or signal.

Freshly mown grass and overall the site is very well presented. Despite the size it’s a quiet spot with only a few campers on a Friday night. Not sure why as it’s a beautiful spot. Bit of a hidden gem.

Got there pretty late due to delayed ferry but managed to pull up to a massive site and pitch up our rooftop tent and had a very quiet sleep. Flush toilets and water you can boil. $20 for 2 cash only.

Really beautiful large site. Only 2 other campers there. Flush toilets and running water. Secluded and peaceful. Bird song by day, silent starry skies by night. Soft grass, no mud when we were there mid January.

What a great spot! As described by others… too big an area to get busy, sunny and shady options, nice amenities, beauty river, no prob with bugs. Most birdsong I’ve heard in upper SI.
