The place is simply perfect, large common room, kitchen, laundry, toilets, and showers ($1 / 2 min) run the sink water on hot before putting your coins in you will save a little time on the arrival of hot water. If you want to go to the lighthouse, be careful to plan the tides you will not be able to go there in the morning but only from the beginning of the afternoon.

Just spent a few days over Christmas at this campground. Really odd experience! It’s a small area and they really packed us all in next to each other, even though it wasn’t near to full, with no thought to anyone being blocked in, or views being ruined. Beautiful area.

Do not follow the destination from campermate, this is not the right address at all! On the other side of the shore (3h from the point indicated)

Here alone, fantastic spot. A bit of a drive but worth the trip. A small campsite so make sure you ring in advance... Good facilities and clean.

John & Janeen were always happy to help and welcomed everyone. A beautiful spot to watch tide go on the Kaipara. Definitely a spot to return to.

Given a warm welcome by John & Janeen. They gave us plenty of local history and a great quad trip to the lighthouse. Gorgeous views. Very well kept facilities. Look forward to returning in a couple of years when the last 23km are sealed. Thanks for your generosity.

We came through for the day to go out to the lighthouse on quad bikes with John as our guide. The facilities here are really nice and well maintained, and the place is certainly worth a visit if you like isolation and brilliant fishing. John’s guided trip was excellent value and his knowledge of the area is amazing. A great place to visit. K&A

Had a lovely stay part of which was over a busy weekend. Janeen did a great job of managing lots of visitors in what is a small space. Facilities are very good and once some more of the road is sealed it will be fantastic. Loved it here. Met great people and enjoyed our stay immensely.

Excellent camp ground. Stunning views & great facilities. The road to Pouto is gravel but ok if taken slowly.
