Pieni sivusto järven äärellä. Mielestäni ehkä 10 ajoneuvoa voi pysäköidä ilman ylikuormitusta. Hiekkalaudat olivat ongelma, mutta tuo vain suihkusi. Oikealla järven vieressä ja 3 vaihtoehtoa vaellukseen. Hyvä merkki sijainnista. Laske wc on mitä odotat. Erittäin hiljainen yöllä. Jos liian kiireinen tai liikaa kärpäsiä, leirintäalue 7km ylös tielle on hyvä vaihtoehto. Paljon enemmän tilaa siellä. Ei signaalia, joten jos tulet lataamaan karttoja etukäteen.

Järvi on uskomattoman kaunis, mutta sivusto on vain tavallinen pysäköintialue ilman näkemystä. WC ei ole paras, mutta käytettävissä. Suunnittelimme jäädä tänne yöksi, mutta koska valtava määrä hiekkalaisia päätimme siirtyä... Suosittelemme silti vierailua järvelle, myös vaellus metsän läpi näkymän pisteeseen on hämmästyttävä! Saavuttaaksesi sinne sinun täytyy ajaa 20 km rautatietä, mutta se on hyvässä kunnossa ja pitäisi olla kunnossa melkein mihin tahansa ajoneuvoon. Ei ole signaalia.

Olin täällä yhden yön ja se oli ihana! On drop wc, piknik-pöytiä ja vettä, joka on keitettävä ennen kuluttamista. Se on vieressä hirven maatilan ja on vain 6 km: n päässä Hauroko-järvestä! Kuten pää ylös, se on pitkä kurpitsa tie päästä tähän paikkaan. Hiekkalaudat eivät olleet liian huonoja. Paljon paikkoja pysäköidä.

Us and one other van stayed much closer to the lake last night, there are two grass, muddy pull-ins. Was lovely. Very peaceful but more sandflies as closer to the water. Also that area is under CCTV, but fine if you don't mind that. Rained over night and other van nearly got bogged, so be careful. Find us on Instagram if you like @twoguysvanlife and @saltyskin

Nice and clean simple grassy campsite. No frills but we liked it also because it’s close to lake Hauroko and has less sandflies ... Because the Lake has tons of them ... Btw if you don’t like mice don’t park too close to the woods. The tiny cute things checked us out quickly to see if there was something to eat. They didn’t stay around for long tho. Probably best to keep food well packed up.

Super hike! Plan hiking boots, it does not hurt! We did it in 2h30, the view at the top is great, worth seeing. You can even sleep on the spot before or after!

The track to the lookout (3hr return) is definitely recommended. It’s very steep towards the stop and mucky in parts. A little tough if you’re not too fit but worth it!

The 3hr track to the lookout is very steep and pretty hard to climb, but definitely worth it! Very nice 180 degree view. If you're in good shape you'll probably need less than 3hrs. The bush walk is... Well, a bush walk. Nice but nothing special. Still, if you have time you should definitely check out this lake!

Currently very wet and some complicated river passages, it climbs well and it's slippery. You will not see anyone!

The Bluff Lookout Track (3 hours return) is very nice :) We did it in 2 hours. Be prepared to climb slippery roots. Very remote and quiet. Great lookout over the lake and mountains from the bluff.
