Nice spot. Good fly fishing upstream. Not bothered by locals. Steady drive with caravan. There's a small stretch of road within last km where you don't really want to meet head-on traffic as road is very narrow. Well worth the effort. PES+JA

We made it there but didn't stay, the site looked very abandoned. We met some farmers who also greatly discouraged us to stay the night, explaining that previously several campers had had problems with the local Maori community. Moreover it is at the bottom of a gravel road which makes the place even more remote and spooky. I will not recommend camping here for safety reasons.
