Great campground, with a lovely view of the river. The reserve is closed so the toilets are closed, probably for a few months.
The back part with the large open grass field is closed for the winter. But upfront around all the trees is open. Enough level places for everyone. Good phone signal.
Closing for winter. Stayed last night possible for a while it seems. in morning we were told the gates would be shut for winter.
Go past the river bit and large field at the back. Plenty of room. Shame though some people don’t realise either how loud they talk or they don’t care about other campers.
Very good campsite. Plenty of spaces, even late at night. Clean toilets, but only one, which is a shame. The campsite is at the end of the road, not next to the river. Don't forget to fill in the QR code, which is located next to the river...
Lovely spot by the river. Didn't get eaten by sandflies. Plenty of space when we arrived at 5.30 on a Thursday. Some benches scattered about.
Nice place to spend a night or two. Not so far fron Nelson and plenty of space. Portable toilet is in the big park if you continue down the road (not next to the river). A bit smelly but was ok. Very quiet at night. Just be careful to not park under the trees when it's very windy as branches kept on falling on our van 😅
Elite spot for stargazing — proper dark-sky vibes, zero light pollution, maximum existential thoughts. There are loads more spots further back with facilities (we admired from a distance, didn’t fully investigate). Also saw people casually panning for gold in the river. No idea how profitable that is, but respect the commitment. Spacious, peaceful, slightly wild. 8/10 cosmic countryside energy.
