Super free camp on the shore of Poaka lake. A huge number of spots on flat ground. All types of camping allowed. Very quiet with view of the mountains including Mount Cook in clear weather. There are also 2 dry toilets at the campground.

Kampus sebenarnya sangat indah, tapi sayangnya kami memiliki pengalaman yang sangat menakutkan selama kami tinggal. Pada sekitar pukul 10:30, batu-batu dilemparkan ke van kami, membangkitkan kami. Sekitar 10 menit kemudian, sebuah mobil mengerikan tiba dan mengelilingi van kami sebelum parkir di dekatnya dan mematikan lampu. Penduduk kemudian keluar dengan petir dan mulai berjalan menuju van kami. Kami sangat ketakutan, jadi saya memanggil polisi. Pada akhirnya, kami merasa sangat tidak nyaman dan tidak aman sehingga kami memutuskan untuk pergi.

Tempat berkemah yang indah. Gratis. Beban ruang. Toilet drop sangat bersih. Pagi di tepi danau sangat indah. Satu-satunya hal yang akan saya katakan adalah mungkin tidak parkir terlalu dekat dengan area pertama dengan bangku piknik di tepi air, kami dibangkitkan oleh sekelompok wisatawan (lihat seperti beberapa tur fotografi) mengambil foto tepat di luar boot kami 😂 untuk matahari terbit.

DOC spacious with many locations on the edge of a lake. To access it by gravel road on 2/3 km but it is done without problems. Only weak point, there are 2 toilets which is widely enough but it could really a lot, he should come clean them (it becomes urgent 😅)

Best site we have done. no shower but large enough, quiet and beautiful.

Around 10:40 pm last night someone vandalized multiple tents including ours.

Didn’t feel safe. At midnight someone is coming and stealing your belongings. Be very careful and aware, catch those bustards

Spacious, peaceful campsite with plenty of room for turning large vehicles. Nestled beside a pretty lake with a canal right behind it. Stunning views across to Aoraki/Mt Cook. Stay on the gravel canal road until you've passed most of the campsite before turning into it. Lake Wardell on the other side of SH8 looked lovely too but is closer to the road.
