You get what you pay for. Not very crowded when we were there.

Such a shame as the surroundings of the campsite are incredibly beautiful and right next to the Blue Pools which are a must see. We couldn’t leave the van once we arrived in the evening as you were either swarmed by sandflies or bees. The toilets smelt awful, used them once and never again as they literally leave your clothes smelling. No fresh water for drinking, doesn’t really seem worth paying to stay when the facilities are so terrible compared to other DOC campsites.

Gorgeous spot with stunning views and short walk to amazing Water Holes. Excellent clean toilets and undercover cooking area. Plenty of space but was $15 each per night and need to register with DoC. Sandflies horrendous.

Pros: There is a nice sheltered area with a roof for cooking, running water and good phone signal, toilets have lots of dead bugs on the floor but are ok. Beautiful views. Cons: Came here despite seeing the negative reviews about sandflies and it was a big mistake. Even though it was raining there were still so many sandflies. Every second we were outside we were swarmed by sandflies and they would follow us into the tent and car as well. I would do everything I can to avoid this place

Views were incredible, but so many sandflies it made in hard to appreciate. Nice that you’re close to the blue pools, and the mountain views are really nice too. Toilets are okay, and there was a sink to wash dishes in - if you wanted. Handy that there were two separate toilet blocks on the different levels. We arrived at 7:30pm and there weren’t many spots left, but apparently many people come and park in here when the pools are busy- so they take extra spots intended for camping.

Spot with a lovely panoramic view, but overrun with sandflies... We had to eat in the van, what a shame.
