Amazing walk, we took a 9 year old and loved it.
One of my favorite walks. Could do in 2 hours but we stopped a lot to take in the stunning scenery. The hole in the rock was huge and picturesque and cooks cove was also breathtaking.
Did the whole walk but you only really need to do the first part to the top of the hill, nice and easy for most walkers. The view at the top over looking Tologa Bay and Cooks Cove was stunning. One of the best views we've seen in NZ (and we've lived here our whole life). Just take a left at the first viewing platform (there was a small dirt path), and you can sit on the hill over looking the bay.
We did the first part of the walk and started at 7.30pm to get up high to see sunset at about 8pm. Its worth even doing the first 15 mins of the walk as great views of Tolaga Bay. First bit takes you to the new sculpture .. Which looks like a large arrow with Maori designs.
Absolutely amazing! We did it with a great sunny day! when you get to the end, I advise you to climb a bit to get a little higher view! our favorite hike on this east coast. We took 3 hours in total (with a picnic stop)
Walk back open again . New monument on the first part of the walk
