We are so happy to have been here. The Recovery Center is located just behind Kiwi North. We had to call and ask for Robert to see the kiwis, but it was worth the wait! (As long as you could get a lot of information in a small room and look at stuffed birds and nests, around the corner of the center there are a couple of aviaries to which you can also go) Robert explained a lot to us and answered all questions and the kiwi was so lovely! Please donate something to support the valuable work
Amazing place !!! Call before to Come for reserved or ask Robert when you arrive. Robert saved many bird is really busy guy but he taken time for explain us everything about this place and is history. It is a association, so let donation for good cause. :)
We were there twice, the first time we were ignored by the staff, they seemed to have no interest in showing us the birds, even though they saw us standing in front of the entrance. The second time was closed although we were there during the opening times! Can not really recommend it!
A gem! We had a wonderful experience here meeting Robert, who taught us so much about birds. We even had the chance to pet Sparky the Kiwi, which is adorable, by giving a donation.
Great. Robert take the time to explain everything with passion. For $ 10 you can even pet Snoopy! Thanks to them for taking care of our animal friends with so much love
Closed on weekends
Visited this place in October and honestly it was one of the most amazing experiences in NZ so far! If you go to the visitor Center and there’s no one there, just call and ask to see the kiwi and the ranger will come! Such a nice guy, great stories, and the opportunity to see a kiwi up close! Got to feed and pet sparky, so cute :) definitely a must do!
Fed and stroked sparkey the kiwi. Amazing experience. Highly recommended! the recovery centre is next to the museum! not the same place! they have kiwis too but in an enclosure and we didn't see them. Worth a look too if you don't have anything else to do though.
15$ for one adult student. Not too much, but still ok for this price.
