Drop toilets that don’t smell that bad, but require your own toilet paper. The scenery is incredible. A beautiful flowing lake with a mountain right behind it, and at night after a clear day the stars are mesmerising. Honestly one of our favourite free campsites in our 11 day trip around the South Island

This site was so pretty, beautiful view of the lake and minimal noise from the road. Clean bathrooms. Seemed to be plenty of spots left into the night.
An absolute gem and highly recommended for anyone travelling this area of NZ. Worth every penny for the wine tasting, the tour of the site and staying. A real slice of heaven and you can tell how passionate the hosts are about the history and wine of the area. Do not skip this one!
