I don't know if it's the exact spot, but when you search directly in Google map, it lead you to this coordinate : Waikaretu Road, Port Waikato 2695. Anyway, the road to come here is beautiful and the final point looks very nice too, but you are very far from it. Still good for a picture! Precisely, I came from Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Rd then I followed the Port Waikato Waikaretu Road and it was gravel road only to the very end, about 500m, so very different compare to the comments below.

Not found the place ... But we confirm for the road worth the detour ?

As an addition to the previous comment: If you come from the south, continue driving after the spot marked on the map and you'll find at least many amazing rock formations if not the exact point. If you come from north, keep a look out for the spot a lot BEFORE the marked spot on the map. All in all, we didn't find the exact spot (because were coming from north and were looking for it too late) but it was such a beautiful scenic route with huge rock formations where I could have imagined Gimli, Legolas and Aragorn running around anytime. The road there is really narrow and gravel though, so stopping to admire the scenery isn't that easy and the land seems to be privately owned so don't go walking on the paddocks without a permission.

Not hugely obvious where Weathertop is... However the scenery is stunning! Unsealed road but we managed fine in 2WD. Really worth the drive if you have some free time and are heading South from Port Waikato.

Unfortunately, we did not find the Wetterspitze, but the landscape was absolutely beautiful! If you want to finish the road to the south, you have to plan a lot of time and fill up! If you only want to go there because of LOTR, you could save yourself the ride.

No idea if we found it or not but in the end we were on a mountain with meadow, but wasn't something special, that is, we weren't even sure it's the right place
