The Tennant Creek Telegraph Station is a historic site located in the Northern Territory, approximately 1,000 kilometres south of Darwin.
It was one of 15 stations built along the Overland Telegraph Line, which connected Adelaide to Darwin in 1872. The Tennant Creek Telegraph Station was an important communication link between Adelaide and Darwin for many years.
It played a vital role in the development of the Northern Territory, and was also used by the Australian government to communicate with its troops during World War I and World War II.
The station was closed in 1935, but was later restored and reopened as a museum in 1980. Today, visitors to the Tennant Creek Telegraph Station can learn about the history of the station and its role in the development of Australia.
