Cape Nelson Lighthouse

Cape Nelson Lighthouse is a historic lighthouse located on Cape Nelson, the southernmost point of the Australian mainland. It is situated approximately 35 kilometres south of Portland, Victoria. The lighthouse was built in 1872 to warn ships of the dangerous coastline and to guide them safely into Portland Harbor.

The lighthouse is a 34-meter-tall stone tower that is painted white. It has a black lantern room on top that houses a powerful light that can be seen for up to 30 nautical miles. The lighthouse is also equipped with a siren that is used to warn ships of foggy conditions.
