    Certified self-contained campervans can stay in the layby parking areas along Marine Parade, on the seaward side. Up to two nights in one place, then move to a new place, at least 500m away. Maximum stay of four nights in total in the City Coastal Restricted Zone per 30 days. Note: no overnight parking permitted at Thomsons park across the road.

    Take all rubbish with you. Regular monitoring and enforcement. Fines apply. Vehicle camping only, no outside set-ups eg awnings. If you want to set up a camp, stay at a camping ground.

    Camping in a public place in a tent or a vehicle without certified on-board facilities is banned throughout Christchurch district, including Banks Peninsula. If you want to camp in a non-self-contained vehicle or a tent, you need to stay at a camping ground where there are facilities you can use.

    Note that there is an alcohol ban in public places along Marine Parade.
