About
In this remote setting, you will be able to look and listen for kereru, tui and fantail, while brown kiwi can often be heard at night. At dusk you may also see bats. The forest is a mix of rata, rewarewa, rimu, tawa and kowhai trees.
In the Great Walks season, book book John Coull Campsite online online or contact the Whanganui Office. Read the terms and conditions before you book. Outside the Great Walks season, bookings are not required - first come, first served.
- Maximum 2 consecutive nights stay for Whanganui Journey river trip campers
- No fires are permitted at this campground
In Aotearoa New Zealand DOC is focussed on protecting our nature, history and culture. We want to show visitors to public conservation land how to visit the Kiwi way.
