    About

    The campsite overlooks the mouth of Whangaruru Harbour.

    Camp hosts are on site from Labour Weekend (fourth Monday in October) to the first Saturday after Easter.

    Each campsite is required to pay an additional $2 to assist with the cost of recycling and disposal of residual waste.

    Bookings are recommended for the busy summer season. Book online or contact: Puriri Bay camp office

    Whangaruru North Head walking tracks start from the campsite.

    The sheltered waters are good for swimming, boating, etc.

    • Camp office hours are 7:30 am – 8:00 pm
    • Camp gates and barrier arms are locked from 9:00 pm – 7:30 am
    • Hauraki Gulf Maritime Park and the Bay of Islands Maritime and Historic Park bylaws apply

    In Aotearoa New Zealand DOC is focussed on protecting our nature, history and culture. We want to show visitors to public conservation land how to visit the Kiwi way.
