About
Hot Water Beach is a popular tourist destination located on the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. It is known for its natural thermal springs, which bubble up from the sand at low tide. Visitors can dig their own pools in the sand and relax in the warm water.
Hot Water Beach is located approximately 12 kilometres south of Whitianga and 175 kilometres from Auckland. It is accessible by car or bus. There is a car park and toilet facilities located near the beach.
The best time to visit Hot Water Beach is two hours either side of low tide. At this time, the thermal springs are exposed and the sand is cool enough to dig in.
