About
Take a scenic walk along the banks of the Waikato River, or simply explore the many lookout points at Huka Falls, one of the most visited natural attractions in New Zealand - these short, easy walks are great for kids.
167 km of available tracks Under 1 hour and 1-4 hours Easiest: Walking and tramping Wheelchair / buggy accessible Dogs permitted
Starting from the Huka Falls parking area, make your way across the bridge spanning the cascading Huka Falls, and then make a left turn. Along this conveniently accessible pathway, you'll find multiple lookout points that provide excellent vantage points for taking in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Huka Falls.
The mesmerizing volume of water plunging over the falls is a result of the Waikato River being funneled through a narrow channel, measuring just 15 meters in width and 10 meters in depth. At the northern end of this channel, the river surges forth, forming the magnificent Huka Falls.
