These bush clad ranges with streams, waterfalls and magnificent vistas offer a natural playground less than an hours drive from Auckland. The park is the largest native forest in the Auckland region. Parking area in main carpark below the Mangatawhiri Dam. Boil or treat water. Animals (except aid dogs) are prohibited at all times.

Campervan access Summer (daylight savings) and Winter (non-daylight savings): Self contained campervans can stay for 1 night in the Upper Managatawhiri SCC parking area. Winter (non-daylight savings) Special: Self contained campervans can stay up to 3 nights in the Upper Managatawhiri SCC parking area when the vehicle based campground is closed. The Upper Mangatawhiri vehicle based campground offers up to seven nights stay for self contained campervans. Can park in main parking area only as conditions allow.
