    About

Excellent access is available to the Grey River from roads on both sides up to Ikamatua. There is plenty of fishing opportunities to be had with the river open year-round up to the Clarke River confluence — around 16km upstream from Ikamatua. Spin fishing is popular along the mid and lower Grey River. During the early season bait fishing is very productive in the lower reaches. Fly fishing is best in the evening when trout often rise to hatches but using nymphs during the day, particularly in the shallow riffles can be productive. Occasionally there is also the opportunity of catching a salmon in this stretch, so do not forget to bring a heavy salmon lure.
