Beautiful sunset views. Car will shake due to wind but all part of the experience
Beautiful spot Amazing views toeards Queenstown No amenities whatsoever No toilets
Word of warning - we had planned to stay here but our campervan agreement with thl specifies that the Crown Range Road / Cardrona Valley Road are restricted roads so please check your rental agreements
It's an extraordinary spot: beautiful and very windy, and cold too. Not much signal, but a breathtaking view. It's right next to the road, but there's light traffic at night. The parking area isn't very level, except at the edge of the slope. No toilets or showers, of course. No problem getting there with any car, van, or truck. Just be aware that the road climbs quite steeply from Queenstown.
Be prepared that there will be people visiting, walking inbetween campers. It's a popular spot next to a road, inbetween popular towns. There are NO TOILETS and NO BINS! TAKE EVERYTHING WITH YOU, do not leave tissues, wet wipes! In short, if you don't want to use your installed toilet, closest toilets are in Cardrona or at Arrow Junction Road. Please park the way we all can enjoy it, and that the gate is not blocked. Poor to none phone reception. You can park in second row closer to the road
Fantastic spot! Amazing views, quiet despite being close to the road, flat surfaces, and heaps of spots. Perfect if your spending an evening in Queenstown and need a place late. It’s definitely worth the drive. No toilets or amenities, phone signal a bit shit, but there’s a lovely 1hr hike.
This place is awesome. Go for it.
The place was very windy — your camper keeps shaking up and down even though the wind wasn’t very strong. I can’t imagine what it’s like when the wind is stronger. We also didn’t realize that we weren’t allowed to come here with the rented camper. Unfortunately, it was already too dark to drive back, so be careful.
Be warned! If you are renting a camper, Crown Range Road might be a road you are not allowed to drive on because it is so steep and has so many switchback hard turns. Check your rental agreement first and if you are allowed to go up, we recommend driving straight on to Wānaka and not going back down the way you came!
