Absolutely superb spot to watch the sun sink behind a few snow capped mountains. Quiet but facilities are portaloos atm. Road in is a bit precarious and sign mentions not suitable for large vehicles but we were fine in our 4 berth in fine weather
Super DOC close to the lake, no sand flies (at least in April) with many camping tables. To access it a gravel road over 6km but which is rather wellined. The only negative point the toilets are closed for several months, so it is construction toilet rather correct with paper but not empty regularly because when we were there they were really filled
Stunning camp right on the river! Take bug spray but the views will make you forget about the mosquitoes asap. 6km gravel road to get to the camp but we managed fine in our campervan
Beautiful campground right by the lake. Even if you don‘t manage to get a spot with lakeview it is still very nice (and less windy) in between the trees. At the moment there are only portaloos but they were clean
Mooie locatie aan het meer. Zeer mooie camping.
Packed with people and hard to find a spot around 5pm - but beautiful views!! WARNING... all toilets closed - so you need a self contained camper. Big signs on all toilets that they are closed. The small hut with running water (not for drinking) is also used as a dump for trash.
Amazing campsite. Beautiful views. Immediate access to the lake. Even when it is fully booked, it isn't busy and you really have your own space. Sandflies are not really an issue, just a few; just spray a bit of DEET and you are okay. The road was easily (just drive slow) accessible for our motorhome of 7.4m. Definitely our most beautiful campsite so far!
A good campsite with a beautiful view to wake up to in the morning! Portapotties were clean and we didn’t have a problem with sandflies although it was pouring rain all evening. The road into the site was so cute with lots of cows and sheep.
Nice campsite for one night before doing the Isthimus hike. 6KM dirt track to get to the campsite - lots of lambs & calves in spring so makes it worth it! No drinking water. Signal still worked. No flushing toilets but many clean portaloos. Loads of flies about!! You need to book on the DOC website beforehand. $15 pp.
