Kleine site aan het meer. Ik denk dat misschien 10 voertuigen kunnen parkeren zonder overbevolking. Zandvliegen waren een probleem, maar breng gewoon je spray. Direct naast het meer en 3 opties voor wandelen. Goede aanwijzingen op de locatie. Drop toilet is wat je verwacht. Zeer rustig 's nachts. Als te druk of te veel vliegen, de camping 7km op de weg is een goed alternatief. Veel meer ruimtes daar. Geen signaal, dus als je komt downloaden kaarten van tevoren.

Het meer is ongelooflijk mooi, maar de site is gewoon een gewone parkeerplaats zonder uitzicht. Het toilet is niet de beste maar bruikbaar. We plannen om hier te verblijven voor de nacht, maar vanwege de enorme hoeveelheid zandvliegen die we besloten om te bewegen... We zouden nog steeds sterk aanbevelen om het meer te bezoeken, ook de wandeling door het bos naar het uitzichtpunt is geweldig! Om er te komen moet je een 20km grindweg rijden, maar het is in goede staat en zou goed moeten zijn voor bijna elk voertuig. Er is geen signaal.

Ik verbleef hier voor een nacht en het was heerlijk! Er is een druppeltoilet, picknickbanken en water dat moet worden gekookt voordat het wordt geconsumeerd. Het is naast een hertenboerderij en ligt op slechts 6 km afstand van het meer Hauroko! Als een hoofd omhoog, het is een lange grindweg om naar deze site te komen. Sandflies waren niet te slecht. Veel plaatsen om te parkeren.

Us and one other van stayed much closer to the lake last night, there are two grass, muddy pull-ins. Was lovely. Very peaceful but more sandflies as closer to the water. Nice and clean simple grassy campsite. No frills but we liked it also because it’s close to lake Hauroko and has less sandflies ... Because the Lake has tons of them ... Btw if you don’t like mice don’t park too close to the woods. The tiny cute things checked us out quickly to see if there was something to eat. They didn’t stay around for long tho. Probably best to keep food well packed up.

Super hike! Plan hiking boots, it does not hurt! We did it in 2h30, the view at the top is great, worth seeing. You can even sleep on the spot before or after!

The track to the lookout (3hr return) is definitely recommended. It’s very steep towards the stop and mucky in parts. A little tough if you’re not too fit but worth it!

The 3hr track to the lookout is very steep and pretty hard to climb, but definitely worth it! Very nice 180 degree view. If you're in good shape you'll probably need less than 3hrs. The bush walk is... Well, a bush walk. Nice but nothing special. Still, if you have time you should definitely check out this lake!

Currently very wet and some complicated river passages, it climbs well and it's slippery. You will not see anyone!

The Bluff Lookout Track (3 hours return) is very nice :) We did it in 2 hours. Be prepared to climb slippery roots. Very remote and quiet. Great lookout over the lake and mountains from the bluff.
