Only 4 spots so arrive early, we stayed one night late April and were the 3rd spot at around 4pm! All 4 full by 7pm. Quiet location, felt safe, police were around on the morning but no bother they seemed to be checking things were quiet? Robo toilet other end of the car park, open during daylight hours. Nice reserve and bike tracks nearby. Good view of Kapiti Island

Great place to stay, very calm and quiet during the night (even on a saturday night). Locals were friendly and had a chat. We had a stunning sunset and saw some beautiful birds. There was a clean toilet which even played music haha.

Very lovely campsite with a clean robo-toilet nearby! The toilet appeared to be closed after 8pm.

Pretty cool spot, decent toilets. Only problem, some local kids came up to us to tell us that at 8pm people would come and ask us for money to stay on the pitch. Of course it's false and it was meant to scare us, but we left because we didn't want to be bothered and disturbed during the evening.

Zeer schone plek. We kwamen om 6pm en het was leeg. 4 plaatsen voor gratis campersite. En toiletten zijn aan de ingang.

Een beetje roekeloos misschien, maar na vrijheid kamperen rond Nieuw-Zeeland voor 8 weken, dit was mijn favoriete plek! Ik verbleef twee keer - eenmaal eind februari en dan weer begin april In februari arriveerde ik om 1pm en de 4 spots waren vol om 5pm; in april waren er nog steeds vrije ruimtes de hele nacht. Het is absoluut geweldig om rond te lopen kijken over de rivier, estuarium, en dan de zee net aan de andere kant van de zandduinen. De zonsondergangen achter Kapiti Island zijn onwerkelijk.

Een goed en zeker beter alternatief is Otaki Beach.

At 6 p.m. all places are full or overcrowded. We won't take the risk of a $400 fine.
