Du kan ikke kjøre til denne campingplassen, men du kan trekke av veien og parkere like før og etter inngangen til sporet til stedet og gå 10 minutter, eller sykle inn til denne vannkanten tentsite. Stedet har et kjøkken ly og lang drop toalett samt tapper som advarer deg om å koke vann før du drikker. Stedet er rett ved siden av et par fine gangveier, en enkel til Kauri fall eller en mer utfordrende spasertur til en gammel treverksted og hvalfiskestasjon eller trikkbanen spor. Ingen trafikk her, bare lyden av fuglene og fisken hopper.

This campsite is not boat access only. We got dropped off at the road and watched the 15 minute track to the camping area. It overlooks the Whangaparapara estuary. It is near the hot springs which we didn't check out as it was a much farther walk than we anticipated. There is a sign that says there is glass in one of the hot springs. Water must be boiled here. One long drop toilet. Thousands of mosquitoes. Be prepared for that. If you walk past the wharf, around the rocks, there is a cave and lots of beautiful crystals. It was the highlight for me. The highlight for my sister was the fishing. Stunning spot. But just be prepared, because it is a mission to walk to the closest town. Locals are awesome though, hitchhiking encouraged.
