Tilgang ned 11km på useglet vei, en av de 2 toaletter ble stengt ut av orden og den andre var full og ubrukelig. Det var ingen telefon data signal og jeg følte meg litt isolert og ubehagelig som en solo reisende. Det var stille og fredelig, det er et vakkert sted.

Huge grassy area for camping, the toilets aren't very clean (cobwebs, partially collapsed roof), the water isn't drinkable, but it does run in the toilets. I had the whole place to myself and felt uncomfortable at times. No phone signal.

Large grassy and boggy areas.Drive further straight past the registration stall and there's a good safe parking lot.Both Catlins and Morris Saddle Roads were very good smooth gravel ones.Great views from saddle.

Veldig stor plass og 2 kjøretøy for natten. Interessen av stedet i tillegg til sin ro er at det er utgangspunktet for 2 vakre fotturer. Vær forsiktig med ikke å ha tæren bitt av en nål i elven. 😳En av våre beste minner i NZ

Campingplass er $ 10 per person nå, vannet må kokes for å drikke, men ellers er det veldig hyggelig campingplass og elven gå er 10/10!

Heading from Owaka the Google maps took us straight there without an issue. It is a bumpy road in places and the ground is a bit boggy. We were in a 7.5 metre camper and it rained overnight. We got out ok, but choose your spot carefully. We were there on New Year’s Eve and while there were lots of locals it was very quiet. A family oriented campground. There are good hikes in the area. No cell phone coverage. Flushing toilets and plenty of space. Worth the drive to stay a night or two.

Lots of room. Ground may be unsuitable for large campers after rain. At the end of a gravel road.

As others have said google maps takes you completely the wrong way follow the coordinates not the directions given. Road to the campsite was quite bad maybe due to rainfall earlier today. Overall nice camp

Lovely campsite. Large, flat, plenty of space and flush toilets. Direct access to the Catlins River walk. I think the confusion about the campsite being closed is due to the Google map directions. If you follow the route as per Google maps you will end up going down a private entrance and you will see a little house with the words ' The Hut' written over it. This is not correct. Instead, head for the Catlins Road and follow the coordinates (not route) given. The campsite is well signposted and a DOC registration station is clearly seen at the entrance to the campsite.

An official campsite was not apparent. Looked more private. Have turned back again.
