One of the most beautiful tracks on both islands. There are various routes to choose from. The tracks are easy—they mostly follow contour lines, with gentle ascents and descents and no steep slopes. I really enjoyed them, with a few mini steps, some river crossings, and a short stretch along railroad tracks, which was also fun. There are signs with information about the local mine. I recommend stopping here, we were completely alone in the parking lot. You can sleep in the parking lot - SC only

Vakre turer fra 30min til 4+ timer. Var ganske opptatt da vi kom dit på middagstid, så det ville være bra å gå tidlig som bilparken kan bli full raskt. Vi leste alle informasjonstavlene som vi gikk langs og fant det veldig interessant. Mye å lære om området.

En rekke valer som spenner fra lett til middels vanskelighet. Få et kart fra Te Aroha informasjonssenter først. Vakkert klar strøm på parkeringsplassen. Batteri stempel rester på parkeringsplassen. Følg turene til jernbanene, tunneler og skråning. Perfekt for familier med yngre barn. Carpark kan ikke være trygt å camping over natten når hoons noen ganger kommer ut for å spille.

We went hiking for 2 hours. Nice if you have the time but not a must do of the region in my opinion. The best part was the one that runs along the old rails. No particular difficulty.

Not many comments so I'll add one. Just did it today, it was definitely worth going ! many tracks available for all levels, we didn't go all the way to the top but still did 2 hours. And all along the way there are little mining things (rails, caves, machines) to enjoy

Native bush walks with a variety tracks taking as long or as short as time available. Stout shoes needed.Historical gold mines from 1881 & the rail lines & steep inclines (3) to explore. Definitely worth a look.
