Amazing location with a hidden steam of crystal clear water and amazing rock formations! Must see! We had an big boxy camper and got down there no worries, the gravel road is newly done and really good. Quiet and secluded. Toilet on site. 20mins to Waitomo caves. One of our favourites this trip! Tim was fantastic communicating via email. Such a special spot. No phone signal.
Amazing spot that lies on a fault line, causing limestone cliffs to rise up on one side and a freshwater creek with eels on the other. Totally secluded with just cows for company. Really unique spot and would highly recommend. Owner is super nice too
The best campsite we stayed at in the whole of the North Island! Cleanest luxurious camping drop toilets, flat ground, the cheapest camping we found and not overly busy. An absolutely magical place, surrounded by gorgeous cliffs and boulders (local rock climbing groups often come to the property to climb and stay), the campsite sits right next to a gorgeous river that you can swim in and is home to some friendly eels. Take a walk along the river/creek, it’s magical. Thank you for best stay!
Google takes you a little further than you need to so take note of the road number. Fantastic spot, really incredible scenery from the limestone bluffs to the short river gorge. Plenty of wild- and farmlife all around. Cannot recommend this highly enough.
We stayed two nights in this tranquil farmland and explored the river by the scaffolding which took us down to see the eels😆, and glow worms at night. Lots of bird watching and animals to see. Will definitely be back with grand kids!
Lovely location with lots of sun and a lovely river to cool down in, would highly recommend. Tim was a lovely bloke aswell 👍🏻
Loved this location! Great river and climbing area. Stayed for one night cus I felt unsafe in Te Kuiti after seeing recent harassment reports toward vans. Perfect if you're going to Spellbound Glowworm cave tours like I was
Beautiful campsite with amazing views. Very clean drop toilet. Long gravel road to access but directions were clear and we managed to climb the slope again with our travellers autobarn van. No phone signal. Turkeys, rabbits and sheep on the site. Caves and river are nice. We just showed up and nobody came to check. The next morning we drove back up to the entrance called how to pay, but the owner was not on site and let us stay for free. Would 100% recommend!!!
Beautiful spot - we enjoyed exploring the river. Peaceful and dark at night with great stars. Composting toilet was clean and had sink with running water. Outdoor sink for dishes as well. Track down is gravel which is a little loose in places but we managed to get down and back up to the river bends in our Jucy campervan. Owner Tim was really helpful with directions and a date change.
This place was amazing very tranquil and beautiful. If you’re looking for someplace to relax and just enjoy the surroundings without not a lot of white people around people around this is a place. Really you have to see it to believe how nice it is.
