Fantastic. Only 2 other motorhomes in the 40 spots to choose from. Good drop toilets. Lovely long beach and great for swimming.

What a great spot. Overlooking the ocean. Very peaceful & relaxing with a beautiful beach to walk along. You can ride your bike along the beach at low tide. Thanks for allowing us to camp at this wonderful peace of NZ.

Beautiful spot besides beach. Local volunteers doing awesome job of dune restoration appreciate donations left in the iron maiden. It's a small price to pay for a million dollar view. ?

Just stayed two nights here, it is stunning, the locals are friendly and the beachfront set up for motor homes. You need to book on a ballot system over Xmas/January but after that it’s just open. Nearest petrol/shops etc is Waipawa so go prepared, it’s well worth the diversion if you love the coast beaches.

Ver nice place, Labour weekend so quite busy, stayed 2 nights.

Really loved it here parked just past the toilet. Don’t need permits in off season. Right on water. Patchy reception. Great beach walks either way. Biked to Blackhead beach at low tide

Beautiful, pristine golden sand beach/cove. Freedom camping spots not very well signposted, we parked about 300 metres past the toilets, right next to the beach. Appears that permits are not required in the off season. Very quiet and very dark at night so the stars look amazing on a clear night. Within cellphone coverage area. Clean toilets available. If you wait until low tide you can walk down the beach to the rocks and see hermit crabs, find remnants of paua shell and maybe see shellfish divers collecting their kai. We will be back for sure.

Fantastic stay Parked along the water front, the beach a few steps away. Called the city council to check and as mentioned permits not required outside the busy summer months. A tranquil place, clean flushing toilets and level parking. Plenty of spaces available. Well worth the drive. Thank you
