Very pleasant walk and an interesting site. Shame the 1000 metres of tunnels are closed off so you can’t go underground. The tunnel doors on gun 3 were open though.

I was on the island this weekend. I wandered along Matiatia the Walkway Te An ... Which once around the island leads. Respectively, I ran only half to Orapiu Wharf. First of all, I got a ticket from Orapiu back to Auckland in Auckland. Due to bad weather, the ferry was canceled and from Orapiu there is no bus connection. I was lucky and a fisherman took me to a bus stop from where I drove back to Matiatia. So I was able to return to Auckland via detours. My tip: check the Fuller Ferry website for the latest travel advice and do not trust the weather forecast. This was only 24 hours completely different! Thank you Fuller Ferry, she called me and informed me that they do not drive and I can refund the money. Which I could easily do. Faxit: Waiheke Iceland in the sunshine beautiful, hell in a storm.
