Came at 5:10 but was already completely full

Stayed several nights. From what I witnessed, first thing in morning - HEAPS of spaces, around lunchtime, maybe 2/3rds full. By 4pm theres only a couple of spaces left. Super convenient location. Walking distance to shops and laundry and also bus stop to go into the city. The toilets are fine - they do get a bit messy as the day goes on but with such a busy site its expected. Some of the parking spots are wider than the others so if you can, try and get one of those and be mindful when opening your doors with such strong winds they can be ripped out of your hand. Good phone reception (spark) For any vegans/vegetarians, the Asian Supermarket next to pak n save has a HUGE variety of vegan meat replacements with dried, vac packed and frozen options available. All in all, a very good site and I will be back.

Relativ große Fläche zum parken. Sind sehr spät angekommen aber es waren noch paar Plätze frei. Wir haben uns als 2 Frauen sehr wohl gefühlt. Was allerdings sehr nervig war war zu einem der Netzempfang und die SEHR VIELEN Mücken und Insekten. Selbst auf den Toiletten waren überall welche. In unserem Auto waren auch sehr viele obwohl wir kein Licht anhatten.

Stayed for 1 night. Overall positive experience. Could identify 5 freedom camping spots split all over the park. Don’t know if the toilets closed at night but they were open just around 8pm and again before 7am. Very clean toilets! There’s also a water fountain and a fixing station for bycicles in the park. Minigolf, public pool and big children playground as well. Locals are very friendly. Very few mosquitos at night despite being next to the lagoon

Highly recommended! Great place with all amenities provided. Very kind staff. Beautiful campground with enough space, lots of birds who you can feed every day if you want. The pool is nice and big enough. There’s a coffee van at the entrance with lots of choices, also little breakfast options 👌

Very nice stay. Affordable $60 for powered site (you can choose to stand on concrete or grass). Cleanest toilet and shower facilities so far. A fully stocked kitchen. The owner is Dutch (as are we) and came over for a nice chat.

This is a nice place to stop - also with children between Wellington and Napier. It has hot water free showers! Nice space between campers so you get privacy! They have a disability shower and toilet! Would stay here again!

Love this place! It is a bit remote but oh so lovely if you want to get away from the hustle for a moment. The birds sing, the sunsets are incredible, and the family running the place are the best thing about it! If you get a chance to do the full experience with the Hangi it is sooo good! Highly recommend!

A big area with a high chance to get a camping site late in the evening. It is a little anarchy where everyone stays where he wants. Beautiful, it is how I imagined the camping sites to be. There is even a toilet, but without water.

Sweet camp with beautiful view on the lake. We stayed at a non powered site with our small van and payed 50 NZD. The kitchen was good, but I can imagine that it can be a bit small when it is more crowded. The showers were included, a little bit low pressure but they could get really hot if you want them to do so. You have to pay 5 NZD for the washing machine (4 NZD with cash) and add your own supplements which you can buy there for 2 NZD. If you want to use the dryer it's 4 extra NZD. Toilets were clean and over all we were really happy to stay there.

Nicely located in walking distances of all the shops and restaurant surrounded by the mountains. Facilities are well mantained and clean. WIFI however is really bad. If you're lucky you can get 1-2mb/s and often gets disconnected.

Great little park with clean well equipped facilities, excellent hosts and a cat that is very friendly as long as you pay the cuddle tax with food.

L’autre free camp étant complètement bondé, cet endroit et une bonne solution de repli, aucunes accommodations mais vous ne serez pas dérangé par le monde

This site is for all vechices not just self contained as stated any vechice can stay for 2 days it's in the Dunedin council freedom camping information. But No Tents . Nice location about 50 mts from beach has 11 car park spaces and 2 toilets and a sink and drinking water taps . Spaces fill up . Get here early as people leaving about 10 or 11 am . Like me .
