Beautiful freedom campsite! Big area with trees, quiet and toilets really clean

Awesome spot right by the treaty grounds, close to Woolies and petrol station. Very clean facilities and looks like Maori owned and run so big bonus go support them. Kitchen and wash up facilities pretty decent too. Has wifi.

Beautiful spot friendly staff, facilities weren't cleaned as regularly though and showers are on a timer. Kitchen was awesome and spacious plenty of kitchenware to make use of. Has great wifi.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Friendly staff, facilities are cleaned regularly and the wifi is great.

I slept here on 16th October. Just a few sandflies so it was pretty good!! Nice sunset and a few deers woke me up next morning :)

The campsite near the beach is swarming with sandflies. Our tent and car were covered in them in the morning, and I suspect there's no pest control. It really hurt the experience. Everything else was fine, though the sites are a bit small.

Pretty noisy with teenagers/car late at night and trucks early in the morning. Okay spot, not great.

Toiletten sind 100m weiter, man steht schön in der Natur und kann die Sonne genießen! Ein negativer Punkt sind die Sandflies, man kann ohne Mückenspray nicht draußen sitzen und seinen Van nicht 1 Minute offenen lassen.

Was wary considering other reviews, but mid-October on a nice day it was beautiful, very little bugs problem, didn't try the loos, lots of cool woodland nooks to park in. Lovely!

As others say, pointless 20+ min detour just to find three vans hogging the spaces. Either they're all wasting everyone else's time, or the system is broken and doesn't show check-ins. Not worth it even if free as it's cosy.

Wonderful spring hot water pools. 3 Warm between 34 to 44 °C & 1 cold. Beautiful place to spend the day with big garden to chill & BBQ picnic area. There is a hike 2,5h loop 4 kms long. Toilets with hot shower. Adult day entrance 20$ Open from Thursday to Monday till 5 pm. Closed Tuesdays & Wednesdays

Did the job for the night. Arrived after 6 with spaces available.

We loved this place. The bay is so idilic. You need to pay for hot showers, bring coins, and there was only one down on the bay so had a wait. Glow worms were cool.

Nice spots with lots of room but it is a fair walk into town. Wifi also seemed to only work for the first night it is meant to reset after 24hrs but wouldn't work for us. The second night they sorted it out for me but by the third night I gave up. Was also a family camping there who had a motorbike that they kept riding up and down so wasn't as peaceful as it normally would be. Watch the Wekas, we saw them steal someone's bag of chips.

Nice beach across the road. Sand flies. Quite busy. Was full by 7pm. The cave is cool and also lots of drift wood to check out.

Stayed at Otto's. Lovely lake. Nice and quiet. Was raining when we were there but would be very pretty on a sunny day.

Besides a nice river with awesome views of the mountains. Sand flies but that's normal in these parts.
