Quiet place with space for a dozen cars. The toilets are clean. There is no running water so plan your own. The hike to the viewpoint is always closed but you can make a stop.
Stayed on a Saturday and had some gimp turn up and do donuts on two occasions in the middle of the night. Otherwise an okay spot with good views and standard long drop toilets.
Lovely spot. So quiet and peaceful even on weekends. Lots of people come to do the walk but it’s closed so you can only walk about 15 mins to get a good sunset view but then if you keep walking it’s totally blocked by fence. No sinks here or even sanitiser. Simple drop toilets but don’t really smell and are cleaned. Some bins but small. Very simple. Gets pretty buggy - guessing from the cows surrounding. Fine most time but sometimes a bit much especially around sunset or midday.
Such a beautiful place to stay, really quiet. Very clean toilets, plenty of spaces to park and they have rubbish bins here. Nice place to chill out before hitting the road again. Listen out for bird calls at night, we heard morpork and kiwi.
Perfect peaceful night with cows roaming around in the field next to us… the walk to the falls is closed atm due to danger x
really nice. quite a large car park. clean toilets. some picnic tables. the falls hike is quite lovely too. quiet and safe feeling.
Nice spot, loads of space and beautiful scenery. Toilets weren’t the cleanest and no sink to wash hands.
Great quiet spot. Nice washrooms. Beautiful bird noises and nice little walk in the bushes to a look out point.
Lovely quiet site. Clean pit toilets View of the waterfall on the way in. Full track is closed but lovely rainforest walk for 15-30 mins to closure. Some oddities with noncampers coming to spend a couple of hours in their cars before leaving, but no obvious reason to be threatened by this behaviour. Was a little horrified by the dog walkers who breezed straight past all the “no dogs” signage. Only 5 overnighters on a Monday in Feb whilst capacity for -40. 1-2 bars of phone signal.
Beautiful spot right next to the stunning forest. Sadly the trek to the Wairere falls was closed. There was just us and another van so heaps of space. But at around 11ish pm a car pulled up and parked in front of our van and was just sitting there for 2h and then drove of again. The exact situation happened later at night again but this time the car parked directly in front of the toilets. We were to scared to use them.
