The annual iwi river journey, Tira Hoe Waka, will take place on the Whanganui River from 5 to 19 January 2027. Many of the huts and campsites along the Whanganui Journey will have closures in place during this time.

Have stayed here several times with others, but once entirely alone - that time was truly spooky for no physical or obvious reason. Since then have always continued to Tinker, Ramanui or Ngaporo. Even on my own at any of the other sites along the river was not fearful.
