Als wir gingen, war es sehr ruhig, ein schöner und gepflegter Ort. Es gab einige Wartungsarbeiten entlang der Straße, als wir am Morgen zurückkehrten, und die Straße war für diejenigen geschlossen, die dorthin gingen.
Die Straße ist in Ordnung für einen kleinen Camper, der es langsam nimmt. Wir haben es in einem 7m Sprinter gemacht - aber wir würden dies nicht empfehlen, wenn Sie gerade einen vom Flughafen abgeholt haben und mit größeren Fahrzeugen unbekannt sind. Esp in der Hochsaison. Die letzten 20km sind unversiegelt, eng und Sie können kaum überziehen ... und können nicht bis zur Hälfte umdrehen - an diesem Punkt haben Sie den harten Teil gemacht. Das heißt, die Wälder auf der Fahrt sind wirklich spektakulär und der Campingplatz ist NZ idyllisch.
Dieser Campingplatz ist atemberaubend. Wir fuhren nachts, so dass es definitiv nicht so einfach war, auf die Straße zu kommen, aber es lohnt sich. Wir fuhren einen hohen Top-Hiace mit NO 4WD und wir nahmen es nur langsam. Die Straße ist halb gepflastert, dann schmutzige Straße, aber haben mit schlimmeren zu tun. Einer der besten Campingplätze, die ich besucht habe und werde im Sommer wieder sein!
Eines der besten freien Camps, das ich je war! So friedlich, schöne Natur, Berge rund um das Camp! Die Toilette war sehr sauber! Die Straße war nicht so schlecht, wie die Leute in früheren Kommentaren geschrieben. Definitiv empfehlen! Peel Ridge (5km) ist eine gute Wanderung und Sie können weiter zum Lake Peel Wanderung (5km)
Es ist unbesetzt und schön, aber ich glaube nicht, dass es die Fahrt wert ist.
Really nice camp area. The long drop toilet was very clean while we were there. Road was well maintained few pot holes, typical kiwi road. We took a 2wd Van and really enjoyed our time. Sandflies were very intense in the morning but dropped away in the evening. Recommend taking your own firewood as there wasn't much dry wood around. Would definitely stay here again
Road in really poor condition . Very hard unless 4x4 vehicle. Definitely NOT for campervan or low clearance 2wd cars. Lots of slips and large rocks have fallen on the road. Campsite very muddy due to rain and someone has done wheelies all over the campsite and ripped it up. Great wilderness area otherwise. Toilet a smelly long drop. River water only source of water. Wekas will steal anything you put down for a. Moment cheeky sods
Pros: Beautiful spot nestled away in the mountains and I would say it is worth the drive in like others have said. Spectacular walks all around, and I recommend the Peels Ridge with beautiful views looking right up the valley. We were pretty much on our own every night except for 1 other camper who set up on the other side of the camp. Cons: We were in our 2WD L300 van and had to take it real easy on the very unsealed and pothole-ridden roads. There are quite literally thousands and thousands of sandflies, especially as it rained for 2 of the 3 days we were there. It was very humid too, so our van got very condensated and we ended up having to leave early so we could dry it out somewhere else. Overall it is a beautiful spot, but if you can try to go in nice weather as the rain makes everything soaked. And also bring insect repellent; you'll need it!
Awesome camping spot! Drop toilet was quite clean but a bit smelly. The road up is steep and can get quite corrugated and you will find quite a few potholes on your way ? Should be easy with a 4WD, take enough time with a 2WD
This place is Magic! Highly recommend if you are competent on NZ gravel roads. So many walks to keep you busy, we stayed 3 nights and definitely could have stayed longer.
