Campground in Outback Queensland, Queensland Australia
For those of you who like the peace and quiet of bush camping, we offer free camping on the Bulloo River in Thargomindah. Over 8 hectares of river frontage with fire pits, solar lights and bins provided you are sure to find that perfect spot to set up camp and put your feet up.
Located just east of town, cross over the two bridges on your way out of town and then before Burleys crossing turn either right or left depending on what looks like a good spot to you. As you can see in the second photo, the right side is a smaller area and the left goes down quite a way.

Great place to stay. Plenty of room.
Nice overnight stay and good location with some option of searching for opal. The area is full of brolgas, which provided a lot of excitement to our dogs! The surrounding views are top notch and the riverside is pleasant.
The Bulloo River Self Contained Campground appears to be a great place to stay, with features that cater to different needs and preferences. It offers plenty of room, a lovely riverside spot, and scenic views. On the other hand, the location allows for activities such as opal searching, and the surrounding area is home to brolgas, which can be a delightful sight for those with dogs. However, the campground may not be perfect for everyone, as one review rates it as "bad".
