Campground in Gippsland, Victoria Australia
Large free camping area located in Walhalla. Toilets, picnic tables, bins, BBQs and water available. Lots of space but can be a popular spot and fill up quickly at peak times.

Wouldn’t recommend for longer than an overnight stay in a rooftop tent or vehicle. Only a small gravel rest area for vehicles. Clean flushing toilets and running water is a plus. Great spot for stopping through and visiting Walhala though.
Very lovely and beautiful campground just a 5min walk from the town centre! Good toilets and a water tap. Only downside: It fills up super quickly especially on weekends and the trailers take away soo much space! Be there early to get a spot to park.
At the top for vans or caravans and motorhomes. It is possible to put your tent in one place. The site can accommodate 8 vehicles. Toilets, garbage cans, picnic table and BBQ. Located within walking distance of all village attractions
Campground has re-opened for campervans/motorhomes but not really suitable for tents right now due to boggy ground. There's flushing toilets and a covered cooking area, and firepits on the grassy areas. A really good freecamp spot!
The camp ground is closed at present due to flooding in stringers Creek that has washed away part of the camping area , it is going to be repaired, so until that happens please check before going, the Chinese Gardens camp ground is also closed
Large site, space for a dozen vehicles plus grass area for camping. Was busy on a Friday night, probably due to size, easy access and being close to Walhalla. Good location though could get noisy at weekends. No phone reception.
We spent two quiet nights here. Perfect location to explore the town and take the Australian Alps walking routes. The town is fairly secluded and up a windy road so would advise arriving in daylight. Toilets were fine and lit up at night time.
Nice little campsite close to town! Check the water before you use it, the tap mounted to a wooden pole has little swimming bugs in the water
Walhalla is a little gem nestled in a deep valley and North Gardens Campground is perfectly located to explore the area. Best suited to campers (who can setup in the central grass area) and smaller vehicles there was still enough space for our van, our friend’s camper trailer and a few other caravans. We spent two nights here exploring the town’s rich history, riding the steam train, doing the mine tour and meandering through the cemetery. The campsite and the whole town are dog friendly. We would definitely stay again but might try for mid-week to have more space and experience the ‘serenity’ :-) WAK
Stayed here for the night after visiting Walhalla, such a lovely village and the campsite is great! Toilets are a bit creepy and could do with a bit of a sweep but they were fine. Nice friendly fellow campers offering advice and conversation. Only issue was the birds trying to get into the back of our van! It seems like they have been fed from campervans before and expected the same from us!
North Gardens Campground is a campsite located near the historic town of Walhalla, Australia. It offers a range of facilities, including flushing toilets, running water, and BBQ areas. The campsite is suitable for campervans, motorhomes, and smaller vehicles, with some space for tenting. However, it is not suitable for large trailers due to limited space.
Reviews suggest that the campsite is clean and well-maintained, with friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. The campsite is a short walk from the town's attractions, including the Goldfields Railway and the Commonwealth Cement Mine. However, it can get busy on weekends, and some reviewers have noted that the toilets could be improved.
Overall, North Gardens Campground is a good option for those visiting Walhalla and looking for a convenient and accessible campsite. However, it may not be the best option for those looking for a peaceful or secluded camping experience.
