Great place! All brand new and stylish. Great location and nice views
Very nice hostel!
It’s open and the new facilities are wonderful!
I was going to stay this tent site, but they don't have campground. Staff was very friendly!
You cannot pay to camp here in a tent or sleep in your van anymore.
Women at reception told me it isn't possible to stay in my van for the night and just use the facilities
Awesome place, friendly staff, well worth it
We stayed in our van for 22$ per Person, which we think is a lot compared to other hostels. But the hostel is so nice and cozy, everything is clean, people are friendly and the staff as well. The view is fantastic and you are close to everything you can do in Tekapo. The kitchen is well equipped and clean. The lounge has some DVDs, many games and the most amazing view you can imagine. The garden has a nice terrace and some picnic tables and is perfect to enjoy a day in the sun. Wifi is super fast. We were very sad to leave this place.
Non member tent site $22, member $19.80. Expensive! Other than that, you get the usual YHA facilities
Haka House Lake Tekapo - From $60
The reviews for Haka House Lake Tekapo are generally positive, with many guests praising the hostel's cleanliness, friendly staff, and beautiful views. The hostel is described as small and cozy, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Many guests appreciate the unlimited and fast WiFi, comfortable lounge area, and well-equipped kitchen. The hostel's location is also a major advantage, with many guests noting that it is close to all the activities and attractions in Tekapo.
However, some guests have mentioned a few drawbacks. A few have noted that the dorms are a bit small and the walls are thin, making it possible to hear noise from other rooms. Some guests have also commented that the hostel can be quite crowded, especially during peak season.
Pricing is a contentious issue, with some guests feeling that the hostel is overpriced, especially compared to other accommodations in the area. However, many guests feel that the added amenities and services, such as unlimited WiFi and access to a range of facilities, make the price worth it.
Overall, Haka House Lake Tekapo seems to be a popular and well-regarded hostel that offers a great value for money. However, potential guests may want to weigh the pros and cons before making a decision.
