Campground in Nelson Tasman, Tasman New Zealand
Gouland Downs Campsite - From $16
This is one of nine Great Walk campsites on the Heaphy Track.
All campsites on the Heaphy Track have water from a tap and toilets that are supplied with toilet paper; Gouland Downs campsite has a long drop toilet. The campsite also has wooden platforms for tent sites. Campers are not permitted to use hut facilities. Hut wardens move between nearby huts in the summer. As well as checking campsite bookings, they are able to provide campers with information about the track and weather.
Bookings are required year round for all huts and campsites on the Heaphy Track. See Fees and bookings.
In Aotearoa New Zealand DOC is focussed on protecting our nature, history and culture. We want to show visitors to public conservation land how to visit the Kiwi way.

If youre doing the Heaphy Track, I recommend this hut / camp site. Although an older hut, but so idyllically located. Very small (only 8 bunks), the only hut with open fireplace, there is plenty of wood. Furthermore, there is a river near the hut, where you can swim super. The sunset is fantastic. If you stay here you will probably be the only ones. I was all alone here and thought it was really nice here !!
