Just be a responsible and respectful camper and don’t park where it’s says not due to being an unmarked burial site—all is fine!
Do not expect to be able to park up a campervan here, it’s got a carpark but it’s clear that the locals do not want anyone here and the West Coast district council has prohibited freedom camping at this location. It’s beautiful, but be aware it’s a huge drive in and out to the nearest spot to park up. We had to go to Lake paringa which was another 1.5hrs drive back.
We went for a 2hr hike through the rainforest, just stunning, then had an amazing meal at the Craypot, we just parked on some rough ground opposite the toilets, no one complained, there was a car park at end of road with a few vehicles, Highly recommended
Very peaceful place, great food at the Craypot!
This area is primarily a fishing village and wildlife sanctuary. If you come to visit please be appreciative of the locals who live here, take your rubbish, use the public toilets in town, keep your dog on a lead, pick up their poos and don’t stay. We are a small village and do not have adequate facilities for numerous campers. Don’t camp on the roads leading into town as per the council sign erected as this area is prone to slips at any time.
Really recommend this spot its absolutely beautiful. there are "no camping" signs all along the Councils dictated area for freedom camping. However several campers and tents etc 250mt along the road and its a much better location it is further from the toilets. The Cray Pot eatery is open from 11am to 3.30pm.
Beautiful view of the bay. No signs to say we could camp and looks like a random turnaround bay however there was another camper there when we arrived. Don’t bother coming if you don’t have bug spray and mozzie sticks because holy moly, sand flies galore.
