Great place with fantastic facilities. Tent sites were shaded and reasonably flat.

Beautiful campground by the beach, but for a hike in campsite in the middle of winter, charging 13pp was, in our opinion, very expensive. In saying that there are a lot of ammenities for a “backcountry” camp spot - free wifi, toilets, fire pits and kitchen. I guess we weren’t expecting it to be so heavily trafficked (there is a water taxi that drops people daily as well as boat access for everyone) we felt as if we hiked to a resort. If you want a backcountry hike with all the amenities this is the spot. But if you’re looking to get disconnected for the weekend and get lost in nature, I wouldn’t suggest.

Campsite is big, enough space for everyone. You have to make a reservation with the DOC, there is a ranger that checks!!! It is quite noisy however, until late people were talking and yelling. Ranger doesn’t check this unfortunately, only your reservation.. These people come with a boat with a bag full of liquor and drink at the beach, then return drunk. Annoying if you’re walking the track and need sleep. Lot of school children but they are no nuisance at all.

Great campsite with an amazing view on the bay. Toilets very clean. BBQs provided. Cold shower at the beach.

The view is just amazing no one if you want peace go there!(End of August beginning of September) drinking water to cook plus BBQ with wood at will.It is truly a paradise.

Don't go here if you're a backpacker who likes peace and quiet. Susceptible to school groups and city folks being boated in at no effort. Te Pukatea bay is only 20 minutes away and much more peaceful.
